With her aluminium construction, Blue Belle - the 43rd yacht launched by Mondomarine – is the work result of a team composed by the dutch Cor D. Rover, for the external design, the italian Sydac, for hull and structural project, and the french Isabelle Blanchere, who looked after the interior design. The large volumes, the brightness of all the interiors, together with the remarkable cruising comfort are this Mondomarine 40.45 metres prominent characteristics; the closely coordinated teamwork between the Shipyard, Cor D. Rover and Sydac resulted in an excellent resolution of all problems that usually accompany conflicting requirements of the structural design and naval architecture, without compromising the end result; and these qualities will characterize all of the future yachts of the new Mondomarine Pacific line of which Blue Belle is the progenitor. The Blue Belle’s owner, already owner of another Mondomarine (New York Lady, a fibreglass 30 metres yacht launched in 1995), required for his new yacht modern lines, but lacking in aesthetic and stylistic strained interpretations, and advanced project contents; Blue Belle had to be, and she really is, a yacht to look at and enjoy for many years without getting tired of her and with no worries. The interior layout of Blue Belle is the classical one for the yachts of this size. The main deck is taken up by a large salon – with comfortable dining for ten guests – and, forward, by the owner’s stateroom with office; also on this deck there are a well conceived galley and pantry combination, and, starboard, a day toilet with access from main entry foyer; from the relax area in the stern cockpit you can go down to the swim platform obtained in the transom door. The lower deck is set out in two VIP staterooms, each with queen beds, and other two staterooms, twin-bedded; forward on this deck are the crew quarters – which can be entered going down to the stairway which, passing by three decks, links it to the galley and to the wheelhouse – which has at its disposal three double cabins, consisting of three double cabins each with separate bathrooms plus a mess. The wheelhouse, equipped with the most up-to-date electronic instruments, and the comfortable captain’s double-bedded cabin, take up the forward area of the upper deck, where there is also a large sitting room with serving pantry and a day toilet; the well protected cockpit, is fitted out for the outside dinner of ten guests. And last but not least the sundeck, including, forward, sofas and sun pads around the Jacuzzi, and a stern area, protected by a bimini, with bar counter, some other sofas and a dining table, with a glass enclosure, that allows the guests to enjoy a pleasant view aft while travelling and dining. But let’s have a more detailed look at every place. Once on board, by using the comfortable gangway, which re-enters in the stern left side, the guests find themselves in the spacious cockpit from which they can enter the large open-space salon of the main deck. The room is divided, but only ideally, in three areas: bar with gaming-table, entertaining area with comfortable sofas and dining room arranged around a table for ten guests. The bar counter, immediately on the right just you have entered, has a Maple basis (the wood used for all Blue Belle’s rooms) and an Azul Bahia marble top; the four people table, placed in front of the bar counter, is ideal for those ones who like to stay up late, gaming or having the last drink. The corner walls of this area are made precious by various little artistic works in polychrome glass – fishes, stars, fantastic shapes and some more – by Gianni Giannicci. The midpoint of the salon, brightened by eight large windows, is fitted out with two large sofas served by two low tables with Maple and Azul Macaubas marble chessboard inlaid support tops. The whole area is characterized by the skilled use of a few colours; various nuances of blue, for sofas fabrics and marble elements, and the wood tones, from the very light one of Maple to the just a little darker one of whitened Teak used for floors; only in the dining area some elements in shades of yellow create a pleasant chromatic contrast; these are the shelves of service fittings and the big shelf on the bottom wall, which all are in Onice Miele; yellow again for the wall-painting, work of art by Véronique Charpy, which serves as wing of the area and represents a sea landscape with mermaids, fishes and dolphins; a brilliance touch to this corner of great artistic value, even so its extreme simplicity, is given by the two big white vases, work of art by Picasso, rested on the shelf without ostentation. In the bottom wall of the salon there are two doors; the left one leads to the large and well conceived galley and pantry combination with all the necessary services; the right one, on the contrary, opens towards the access leading to the owner’s stateroom and to the stairway connecting the main deck to the upper and lower ones. The owner’s stateroom includes an office, the cabin and two separate bathrooms. The office, large enough to allow the owner and his wife to work at the same time at two separate desks, is fitted out in a very simple way with two small armchair and an angle sofa coated by a fabric with white and blue squares, which add to the brightness of the room; the walls of this room are made precious by two valuable art works by Cocteau and Braque too. A sliding door parts the office from the king-size double-bedded cabin; also in this cabin are present all the stylistic references and the approach for simpleness, freshness and brightness characterizing all Blue Belle’s interiors; the bedside tables, the vanity and the desk remind of the design of salon fittings while the bedcover is in white and blue sheeting; the blue colour is very nautical and very used on board. The two bathrooms are large and provided each with shower and bath; the basin’s tops are in Bianco Taxos marble and in one bath doesn’t lack a little beauty table while in the other one a little shaving table. The upper deck is formally divided in two parts by the stairway going up from the main deck. The bow is taken up, obviously, by the wheelhouse, the only room of Blue Belle where technology plays master from the aesthetical point of view too; the two sailing armchairs allow to check from a sufficiently high point of view either the surrounding sea area or the control panel provided with the state of the art instrumentation; a touch of old-style refinement and elegance, which pleasantly contrasts with the technological atmosphere of the room, is given by the sofa, in blue leather, placed backwards the armchairs and at disposal of those who like to enjoy sailing from an unusual and preferential point of view. An access on the left side of the wheelhouse leads to the large and comfortable double cabin of the captain and, always on the left, you can find the stairway linking all the crew quarters positioned in the three decks, allowing the crew to move freely according to its needs without entering the owner’s and guests’ rooms. The stern of the deck, on the contrary, is taken up by a sitting room, ideal to natter quietly, to play chess, to read a book, or to relax on the semicircular sofa, when the warm afternoon light flooding the room mixes up its colour with the yellow one of the fabrics. The middle part of the lower deck is taken up completely by the four guests staterooms, two double-bedded VIP and two twin-bedded; all the staterooms are of more than ample size, specially the two VIP which have at their disposal, each one, a bathroom with bath; more traditional is the disposition of the forward one, with the queen-size bed placed in the middle and the bath obtained behind the bottom wall; less usual the stern one, with the bed, always queen-size, placed to the right and the bathroom on the left, behind the wall against which leans the sofa. The two twin-bedded staterooms are perfectly identical, apart from the fabric’s colours, and symmetrical. If Blue Belle’s interiors are very comfortable, likewise enjoyable are the external areas, particularly the very large sun-deck, which can be lived at all hours of the day and night. The forward area is dedicated to sun-baths on the sofas and sun pads and to freshness and relax provided by the Jacuzzi; the middle part, protected by a bimini, allows to have a drink peacefully sitting at the bar counter, lying sheltered from the sun and perhaps observing the chef busy to prepare a mixed grill on the barbecue; the stern, with its dining area with glass enclosure allows the guests to enjoy a pleasant view around while they have dinner during sailing. Another table, for ten guests, allows to have dinner outside also in the well protected stern cockpit of the upper deck; the cockpit of the main deck, on the contrary, is more suitable to have breakfast or after bathing as it can be easily reached from the bath platform. Powered by twin 2,285 hp MTU engines, Blue Belle reaches a 21 knots maximum speed and has a transatlantic range
